In traveling the Napa Valley back roads, you may come upon a red-headed lady in a big straw
hat, huddled over her easel and paints, and very engrossed in capturing yet another Valley
scene.  That would be me, Betty Jo March.
I have lived in, and loved, this valley for over 60 years of my life.  I have recorded every
nuance of color and cloud and shade and shadow of every season, working in either water
color or oil, in an attempt to show the world the beauty I see every day.  I often remember
passing a beautiful field of poppies and lupine, while in the company of my favorite High
School art teacher Ms. Marietta Voorhees.  She turned to me and said "Oh Finch! (maiden
name) Don't you wish you could capture that on canvas?"   I have ..... many times, and I
would like to think she would be proud of my accomplishments.
Although I have studied with other well-known artists and have taken a variety of classes, I
consider myself mainly self-taught, and have developed my own unique style.
I have been accepted, and taken awards, in many, very prestigious, juried shows; am a
founding member of Wine Country Artists; a member of the National League of Pen Women;
and have earned my Society of Western Artists signature.
My paintings hang in many private collections, both local and international, and have been
consistently chosen for silent auction for the famed Napa Valley Wine Auction. I  was very
honored when St. Helena Hospital and Health Center bought one of my paintings to present to
Rosemary Clooney, after she performed for one of their charity fund-raisers.  The Napa Valley
Heritage Foundation asked me to be one of ten artists to do paintings of the Valleys old stone
bridges for their Heritage Collection.

Presently, I am a partner in the Blue Heron Gallery, Vintage 1870, in the beautiful little town of
Yountville, Napa Valley, Ca.. If you are ever in our neighborhood, please drop in and say
                    “Hello!”

Please wander through my site, and I hope you enjoy what I do as much as I enjoy doing it!!
